Elf Nails

So yeah, I know I haven't posted in a while but I have a really good reason for that. The sinus infection I battled the week before Thanksgiving...yeah it came back on me and I have been one really unhappy camper for the last two weeks. Let's just say I am going to be on antibiotics for like a month because this sinus infection is just awful. So sorry about the non-posting. But If it helps I have (and still am) fairly sick. I did manage to get in one Christmas manicure though so here it is. Today I have a Christmas Elves manicure to share with you. I saw someone on Instagram did an elf manicure that was similar and gave me the inspiration. ...But I can't remember who did the manicure so sorry about the lack of credit given, it wasn't to be malicious. I am just all germ infected and my memory sucks. I spent several hours trying to find out who, but to no avail. Also I had catastrophic nail failure and have nubs again for a little while. But anyway they did a similar manicure and gave me the inspiration for this one. So here it is.

Pictures:

What I Used:

China Glaze - Holly-Day
China Glaze - Gaga For Green
China Glaze - Salsa
Americana - Mustard Seed
Americana - White Wash
Ceramcoat - Black

This is all free hand and actually pretty easy to do. Which is why I picked it on account of being the host of viral plague (at least in my sinuses). But seriously why to we have to have so many sinuses and why hasn't someone invented sinus reduction surgery. I could really use a few less sinuses about now. Anyway I hope you guys enjoy this manicure and have a safe, happy, and warm Christmas. I am going to go rest and try to feel better. Until next time, stay classy and stay polished.

China Glaze Party Hearty

Today, I have a swatch for you guys of Party Hearty from China Glaze Let it Snow 2010 collection. As you know I received this polish on Christmas Eve last year and never got to swatch it for you guys. Mostly because I just can't bring myself to wear Christmas polish after Christmas. So now that Christmas has come around again here it is with no further ado.

Pictures:

Indoor no flash tilted.

*No outdoor pictures because it's 4 degrees outside and frostbite is not on my To Do list.
*No flash pictures because this polish is a glitter bomb that gives my camera seizures.

Closeup:

Indoor no flash.

For this picture I used two coats of OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons as underwear, two coats of Party Hearty on top, and a heavy layer of topcoat to finish it off. Over all, I really like this polish. It applies like regular polish (no dabbing needed), dies quickly, and has a huge sparkle pay off. I'm so glad this polish is no longer a lemming for me, it's now a treasured part or my collection. If you can still get a hold of this polish I highly recommend it because is gorgeous. It kind of makes me wish China Glaze would go back to traditional Christmas colors for their Christmas polish collection glitters, instead of the pink, purple mixtures of the last two years. Anyway I hope you guys enjoy this swatch as much as I enjoy wearing it. That's all I have for you today, so until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Dollish Polish - The Curse Of Michael Myers

Since, I am finally starting to feel better I figured I would get a swatch post up for you guys today. I am going to show you The Curse Of Michael Myers from Dollish Polish's Halloween Frights collection. The Curse Of Michael Myers is a multi-size, muti-shape, orange, yellow, gold, silver and white glitter mix in a clear base. I used Kalahari Kiss by China Glaze as a base color to make the glitter pop. So without further ado here she is.

*for some reason my camera rendered the silver glitter as clear or white no matter what I did.

In these pictures I used two coats of Kalahari Kiss by China Glaze as a base color and one layer of The Curse Of Michael Myers, with a heavy coat of topcoat. This glitter topper is a topcoat eater so apply topcoat heavily. Over all I really like it. And for one layer it has a huge glitter payoff. What do you guys think? Are you loving it as much as I am? It's so freaking pretty. I am in love Dollish did it again. Her glitter toppers call to me so. That's all I have for you today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Catching Fire Two Hand Manicure

Tonight, I am going to go see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (for the first time) and I had planned on seeing it a lot sooner but life got in the way (as it tends to do). But anyway I designed this manicure last summer after reading the books at my friend Marcie's insistence. Which I actually liked (Who knew?). And since everyone asks which team I'm on I'll tell you I'm on the non-team "I Think Teams Are Stupid Team" It's so high school IMO (Sorry). I'm a grown ass woman I don't pick teams. However I will tell you my favorite characters are Cinna and Peeta, and (obviously) Katniss. So without any further blathering on my part, here's my Catching Fire manicure:

So there you have it, my Catching Fire two hand manicure. What do you guys think? I'm rather pleased with myself actually. It was crazy complicated and planned well in advance I used images from the book (pearl, dandelion, Snow's rose, etc) as well as the movie trailers (Effies Dress, Mocking Jay, Girl on fire flames, etc). I really hope you guys like this manicure. And please for the love of all that is holy don't ask me how I did it. Just appreciate the result and be thankful that you didn't have to put in the work to achive this look. Also if you comment below about the book or movie don't spoil it for anyone, no who dies, no who lives, no plot twists, no ruined endings, no changes from the book, nothing that may ruin it for someone who hasn't read the books or seen the movie. I am a stickler for not ruining things, I may never forgive you if you ruin an ending. Also I monitor comments before they get posted and I will delete it before you can ruin it for anyone else so don't bother. Other than that comment away. Now that I have talked about this manicure enough for now, I'm off to see the film. So until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Two Thor 2 - Loki Inspired Manicures

Today, I have a 2 different manicures to show you guys. I am going to see Thor 2 tonight (it had to be put off on account of illness until now). Actually, I did one of them before I got really good and sick so my nails are a bit longer (before they chipped while I was sick). I painted one and then ended up not going to the movie because I got to go to the doctor instead. Not a fun trade. Anyway my favorite character in Thor, and The Avengers is Loki. I'm not going to lie Tom Hiddleston is man pretty, but he's also more fun and more charming than Thor IMO (plus Thor is all blond...and a muscle bound monkey. Gross...). So I did a couple abstract homages to his royal Asgardian trickster self. Here are my Loki manicures:

Loki Manicure 1:

In case you don't know who Loki is:
Have you been living under a rock? I don't know if we can be friends if you don't know who Loki is...

See...man pretty.

Movie Trailer:

So there you have it. Which one do you guys like better? I like them both. To be honest I feel a little rusty having been away from nail art for so long. I have to get back into the habit. I've got another one coming up that's pretty epic, look for it later this week. Anyway that's all I have for you guys today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

I'm The Host of Viral Plague.

I just wanted to do a quick post from my phone to let you guys know why I haven't been posting. For the last two weeks I've had a nasty cold that turned into what my doctor referred to as a "raging" sinus infection (3 words I never want to hear together again) and bronchitis. Yeah...not awesome. Anyway I just wanted you guys to know I'm not ignoring you I'm just a host animal for a virus that's kicking my butt right now. I'll do a real post as soon as I feel better. I take solace in the fact that while the germs are making me sick, miserable, and crabby, my body is killing them. I'm taking pains to make sure no one else gets them so they die with me (Vengeance will be mine!). Anyway I'm going to go rest now and I'll be back as soon as I feel better. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Duo-Chrome Curls Manicure

As I am carrier of viral plague once again I am going to post a mani I did a while back but never posted. Don't get me wrong I love my job working with kids but I'm not a big fan of their germs. Anyway disregard nail length as I said this was an older mani that I did and took pictures for but never posted until now. I have another stamping manicure to show you guys. I decided I really like pairing two duo-chrome polishes together and I'm pretty happy with the result. Here it is:

Pictures:

Tilted back view. Indoor no flash.

Tilted down view. Indoor no flash.

What I Used:

OPI - Just Spotted The Lizard
OPI - Peace & Love & OPI
Stamping plate: Mash-49

I used 3 coats of Peace & Love & OPI then stamped Just Spotted The Lizard over top. I really like the effect. A subtle duo pattern, that screams fall. Do you guys like it? I also tried a different clean up technique where I used a brush around the cuticles (Hence the tiny bit of exposed nail bed near the cuticle). What do you guys think of this nail polish clean up approach? I can't decide if I like it or not. I keep looking down and going "Ahh! Naked Nail!" Thoughts? Anyway that's all I have for you today. Until next time stay classy and stay polished.

We're Simply Meant To Be

So today I have a Nightmare Before Christmas manicure for you guys. I'm calling this one 'We're Simply Meant To Be." With an underlying theme of the love Jack and Sally share (hence the title). It didn't  turn out exactly as I wanted it to...So we are just going to call it stylized Jack and Sally...In fact if you like it you have my friend Marcie to thank for it (I was going to scrap it until she said she loved it). Conversely if you hate it she's also the one to blame (sorry Marcie). Anyway here it is:

   The song from the film:

We're Simply Meant To Be

Usually, this would be the part where I tell you haw I did it...but this one is pretty complicated and I'm not entirely happy with it so I'm just going to throw this up here and say "Here, I did a thing." If you like it I'm glad, if you hate it...well I'm not happy with it either. But anyway I hope you guys all have a safe and happy Halloween and eat lots of candy, watch lots of horror films and and carve lots of pumpkins. That's all I have for you guys today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.
