Two Thor 2 - Loki Inspired Manicures

Today, I have a 2 different manicures to show you guys. I am going to see Thor 2 tonight (it had to be put off on account of illness until now). Actually, I did one of them before I got really good and sick so my nails are a bit longer (before they chipped while I was sick). I painted one and then ended up not going to the movie because I got to go to the doctor instead. Not a fun trade. Anyway my favorite character in Thor, and The Avengers is Loki. I'm not going to lie Tom Hiddleston is man pretty, but he's also more fun and more charming than Thor IMO (plus Thor is all blond...and a muscle bound monkey. Gross...). So I did a couple abstract homages to his royal Asgardian trickster self. Here are my Loki manicures:

In case you don't know who Loki is:
Have you been living under a rock? I don't know if we can be friends if you don't know who Loki is...

See...man pretty.

Movie Trailer:

So there you have it. Which one do you guys like better? I like them both. To be honest I feel a little rusty having been away from nail art for so long. I have to get back into the habit. I've got another one coming up that's pretty epic, look for it later this week. Anyway that's all I have for you guys today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Halloween Water Marble

First if all I wanted to apologize for being MIA lately. I just started a new job and haven't quite figures out a good pacing yet (I promise I will work on it though). Plus, I got a case a food poisoning (from a local TexMex place that I will never eat at again...it's funny how 3AM puke fests will do that to you). But luckily it is no longer making me toss my cookies but I am still a little light headed. That said I wasn't going to let it keep me from getting this post up. Luckily I did the mani on Sunday and edited the pics before the food poisoning kicked in. So I can handle the write up today (light headed or not). Anyway, today I have a Halloween water marble to show you guys. Actually it didn't exactly turn out as I wanted it to...But I like it and it's Halloween-ish so I'm posting it anyway. So without further ado here it is:

What I Used:

China Glaze - Sun Worshiper
China Glaze - Near Dark
China Glaze - Desert Sun
Dollish Polish - This Is Halloween

I started with a base coat of Sun Worshiper then water marbled with Near Dark and Desert Sun. Once it was dry I added a layer of This Is Halloween to my ring finger as an accent nail. So what do you guys think? Do you like it? I really Do like it...even if it didn't turn out just as I wanted it to be or how I Imagined it would be. Anyway that's all I have for you today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Fall Water Marble

Today, I have a fall water marble to show you guys. Now I know everyone is posting Halloween manicures already...and as much as I love Halloween (And that's a lot) I refuse to do Halloween manicures until October 1st. I won't do it. I'm tired of this rush into and out of holidays. I won't do Thanksgiving mani's till November, and I won't do Christmas ones until December. If that makes me old fashioned then so be it, it's the only way I'm old fashioned. I just refuse to give into the man that says Halloween starts in September, Christmas starts in November and Valentines Day starts in January. I officially thumb my nose at the man and say "No! I will celebrate them during the month of and no sooner." Okay, sorry about the rant but seriously it kinda makes me crazy. Without further ado here's my fall water marble:

What I Used:

China Glaze - Cross Iron 360
China Glaze - Goin My Way?
China Glaze - Riveting
OPI - Oy-Another Polish Joke!

So I used a basic leaf like water marble over a base coat of Oy-Another Polish Joke and I'm pretty happy with how this marble turned out. It's very Autumn and harvesty (I'm making that a word). Anyway that's all I have for you today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Mothers Day Water Marble Manicure

Those of you that know me, know that I am not a mom (unless you count fur kids) and my mom passed away when I was a kid. So, I don't have a reason to celebrate Mother's Day. But this year I decided to do a Mother's Day manicure anyway. Free warning this will be a sappy, sentimental post because I am dedicating this manicure to my mom's memory. If you are not down for that sort of thing abandon post here. I'll wait....(*wonders off for a few minutes then comes back*) Still here? Good I will proceed. Basically I decided that even thought my mother isn't here anymore, it doesn't mean I am not eternally grateful that she was my mother. I feel lucky that I had such an amazing mom for what little time I had her. She was the most amazing woman in the world and everything good about me came from her.

This is my mom:

Her favorite color was green. Her favorite flowers were lilacs. She was an animal lover (all kinds of animals). She loved Mexican food. She loved her children and grand children more than anything in this world. And she loved to plant, nurture and tend her garden (vegetable and flower)....which is seriously a trait I wish I had inherited from her...My apartment is where plants go to die. It's ridiculous really. I'm a vegetarian who can't keep a plant alive. How's that for a contradiction? But I digress. The general thesis is that my mother was an amazing, caring woman who I love very much. And this manicure is for her. Happy Mother's Day Mom. I only hope that some day I will be half as good a mom to my children as you were to yours.

Pictures:

What I Used:
China Glaze - Tart-Y For The party
China Glaze - White On White
China Glaze - Gaga For Green
China Glaze - Holly-Day

A song that always reminds me of my mom:
Jimmy Eat World - Here You Me
“And If you were with me tonight. I’d sing for you just one more time. A song for a heart so big, God wouldn't let it live.”♫

I decided because my mother loved plants and flowers that this mani should reflect that. Plus, I wanted to use her favorite color and her favorite flower. Then I decided I would do a water marble because I haven't done one in a while. My accent nail is a purple/white lilac like flower and the rest are supposed to be the little leaves of the lilac bush. I think in true mom fashion she would have liked anything I did for her. When she was alive I could have brought her a cotton ball with a twig glued to it and she would have acted like it was a piece of world class art, so I'm pretty sure she would love this. Anyway, I hope all the moms out there have a happy Mother's Day. Anyway, that's all I have for today. Until next time, stay classy and stay polished.

Golden Tiger Water Marble Manicure

Today, I have a water marble manicure to show you guys. I call this water marble "Golden Tiger" (inspired by this picture over here) I realized I haven't posted a water marble in quite some time so here's what's on my nails today. Also forgive the wounded heart images, in all the pictures. I cut the crap out of my finger this weekend and have a really gross cut so I used the image to cover it, that way you guys don't have to see it. Also I'm sure this won't be the last time I have to hide wounds on my fingers in pictures...mostly because I am a clumsy ass and hurt myself regularly. Kind of surprised it took this long into my blog for me to hurt my hand though. Translation: I usually hurt my hands frequently. Anyway here's my manicure.

Pictures:

What I used:
China Glaze - Dandy Lyin' Around
OPI - Oy! Not Another Polish Joke
OPI - Goldeneye

And some tunes. A little Atrium for you guys. Haven't heard them? Push play and enjoy.
Atrium - All That Remains

So there you have it. I had a really hard time with this water marble. For one Goldeneye would not spread right and then dried to quickly. Plus the cleanup was a beast. Those little gold flecks in Goldeneye were a pain in the butt to remove from my cuticles after the water marble. I had to wash my hands after the polish was dry to get rid of those little buggers. That said, I really like the way it turned out. Not how I imagined it, but pretty just the same. What do you guys think? Let me know by leaving a comment below. That's all I have for you today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Persiphony Pink Water Marble

Today, I have a pink water marble to show you guys. I didn't set out to do a water marble. I was trying to do a water spotted manicure...well long story short the spray hand sanitizer (I was lucky enough to already have) was just not useful for this purpose. It just tore giant holes in the polish (the size of three fingers). Fail. So I decided that since I already had the water ready it wouldn't be a total loss and decided water marble was a better way to go since I have gotten pretty good at it. I also wanted to say that this it the first time I have used Zoya polish in a water marble...and holy crap it's awesome. It spreads better than any polish I own. Or at least Persiphony spreads better than any polish I own. Any way enough of my blathering here's the manicure. I hope you enjoy it.

Indoor with flash.

What I used:
China Glaze - White Cap
Zoya - Persiphony
Flower water marble pattern.

And a song because I can't do a pink manicure without a P!nk song. That would be silly.
P!nk - F**kin Perfect

So there you have it, the water marble that started as a water spot. Don't worry I am not giving up I will try the water spot manicure again. I just didn't have the required equipment to get it to work right (i.e. hand sanitizer that doesn't suck). That said I am happy with how the water marble turned out even if it was in lieu of water spots. It's pink and girly and springy...even if it's cold as...well you know were I'm going with this. It's decidedly still winter outside. Well that's all I have for you guys today. Until next time, stay classy and stay polished.
