Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Plaidical Review

So I finally had some time to try the Sally Hansen Salon Effects strips that I got on clearance a while back. I was super excited for how long they claim they last. And after some trial and error I got the strips properly applied. They are trickier than I would have guessed.

Here's what it looked like on my nails day one.
Left hand.

Right hand

The review. The strips were kind of tricky to apply and took a few errors to get it right. Once on the nail they felt more like a sticker, than real nail polish. They were also nowhere near shiny enough (IMO). I love shiny nails and these had a slight gloss but not shine. I like a high shine nail and these strips didn't do it for me. It did remind me of something though. It was almost like that plastic wrap that has sticky stuff on one side so you can seal bowls and what have you. It felt a lot like that. not a very pleasant tactile sensation. My other gripe is that none of the strips fit my nails. They all had to be trimmed and it took some work to get them to stick to the tips of my nails. But once they were on I decided to clock how long they would last since they claimed up to 14 days.

What they looked like on day three...

Yeah....so needless to say I am not pleased with the staying power of these polish strips. I didn't even do anything unusual. Two showers, two shampoo's, and two dinners....oh and I went shopping with my good friend on Thursday. But seriously that should not have caused this kind of chippage. My right hand looked like crap in three days...yeah so much for lasts for up to 14 days. Now I am really glad I got these strips on clearance. If I had paid full price I would be going postal right now. I will be sticking with regular nail polish from now on. There are just too many negatives from this product for me to attempt polish strips again. I'd rather wait for my nails to dry and have them shiny and feel like polish (not plastic wrap) than have quick dry. Oh and one last thing....taking them off is gross. They stained my nails reddish blackish and left my hands really sticky and gross. Have any of you guys tried them? What was your experience? Did you get a better set of strips than I did? It wouldn't be the first time I got a dud. Anyway that's all I have for you today. Until next time stay classy and stay polished.
XOXO

My Favorite Blue Nail Polish

Those of you that know me know that Blue is my favorite color and as such I have a lot of blue nail polish because I am constantly looking for a nail polish color that is my exact favorite color. Well I have yet to find that color exactly but this one is close. So I'm sure you are wondering what is my favorite color then. It's kind of hard to explain but if you have ever been out on the ocean after a storm and the water is clear and deep and as blue as a flawless sapphire but with tinges of teal...well yeah it's not easy to explain but that's my favorite color the color of the ocean after a storm. But I digress. Anyway I am always looking for a polish to replicate that color and this polish is closest (all be it several shades lighter). My favorite blue nail polish in OPI's Ogre The Top Blue from the Shrek Forever After collection.

All pictures are with two coats of polish and a top coat. The best color representation is the outdoor in sunlight photo. It applies easily but like most creme polishes it has a slightly longer dry time. But over all I love it. Now if I could just find a polish just a few shades darker than this and I would be in heaven. It's so close to my favorite color though so it's my favorite blue.

And for no other reason than because this CD came out today and I'm obsessed with it. Enjoy a little Matchbox Twenty - Overjoyed. Video's cheesy as could be, but the song is good.

That's all I have for you today. Until next time stay classy and stay polished.

OPI Germany Collection German-Icure Swatches and Review

Today I have another swatch from OPI's Germany Collection. This time I have German-Icure to show you. German-Icure is a dark vampy metallic red polish that that is both dramatic and girly at the same time. And my regular reader know that my Valkyrie gene loves things that sparkle and this one satisfies that gene perfectly. I took a ton of photo's of this polish because I am in deepest smit with it's dark, shiny, vampy, deliciousness.

All pictures where two coats of German-Icure and a top coat. The best color representation is the outdoor in direct light picture. It applies easily and dries quickly. I'm in love with it's dark vampy nature. Dark + sparkly = love. This will be a regular on my digits this fall.

Also for no apparent reason I have this song stuck in my head after finding it on Youtube the other day.
I'm in love with this album and it hasn't even come out yet.

Any way that's all I have for you guys today. Until next time, stay classy and stay polished.
