Finger Paints Abstract Abstraction

First of all I want to apologize for the lack of posting...but it's been a week. I ended up going to the doctor twice this week on account of getting hurt at work. One Baro trauma to the left ear, one tetanus shot, one laceration, and a dislocated finger later I'm attempting to type this for you with a splint on my finger. Anyway, today I have Abstract Abstraction from Finger Paints to show you guys. Abstract Abstraction is one of Finger Paints new flakie polishes. It's a blue, green, and purple flake polish. I used China Glaze Liquid Leather as Undies on this one.

On this manicure I used two coats of Liquid Leather and two coats of Abstract Abstraction with a heavy coat of topcoat over everything. This polish applies easily and is a slower drying polish. That said I really think it dries faster than the previous flakies released by Finger Paints. They wore really well (I wash my hands a lot because I work with kids) and It barely even chipped. I took if off because I just wanted a different color not because it was chipped as I usually do. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this swatch, and I will be posting swatched or the polishes from the rest of this set soon, so stay tuned. That's all I have for you today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.
XOXO

China Glaze Howl You Doin' vs Orly Fowl Play Comparison Swatches

Today, I have a comparison swatch to show you guys. I noticed when I got my bottle of Howl You Doin' that it looked suspiciously like Orly's Fowl Play. So I decided that I would do a swatch comparison for you guys. Because in the bottle they looked like dead on dupes. Here some pictures:

Closeups:

China Glaze - Howl You Doin'. Indoor no flash.
Note the smaller red torn shards and blue micro hexagons (which China Glaze has more of). Seems like everyone's having a hard time getting pics of this polish to show the detail. Not me. My camera may be old but it does macro shots like no other (Yay Nikon!).

Orly - Fowl Play. Indoor no flash.
Note the larger red glitter is a torn/flakie glitter (which is larger than that in China Glaze), and the presence of tiny slivers of silver glitter (absent from China Glaze).

For these pictures I used two coats of China Glaze Howl You Doin' and three coats of Orly Fowl Play. Both polishes are in a jelly base with red and blue glitter in them. As far as formula goes, China Glaze is a better formula because it only needs two coats, and it dries faster. That said, with China Glaze there's more glitter, so it is a bit bumpier in texture. When it comes to color, Orly is a little bit more of a dusky indigo color, where China Glaze is more of a grapey color (it reminds me a little bit of grape juice). Also, Fowl Play seems to have teeny tiny silver micro glitter shreds in it, and Howl You Doin' does not. It's also worth mentioning that the red glitter in Fowl Play is more of a flakie glitter and I would classify the red glitter in Howl You Doin' as more of a shard glitter. So as you can see from the pictures they are not really dupes (The bottles lied! *insert mock horror here*). However they are close enough that if you have one, you probably don't need the other. And if you don't have either I would say get the China Glaze, because it has more glitter, dries faster, and it is a prettier color (IMO). Well that's all I have for you today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Dandy Nails Chilled Down

Today, I have another indie to show you guys. Chilled Down by Dandy Nails is a pale blueish-grayish-off whitish base, with gold and blue torn flake glitter in it...and can I just say it is amazing. Because holy crap, it's amazing! My nails look like little pieces of granite. It's shimmery and flaky and just so many shades of amazing, I know you guys are just going to love it. So without further ado, here's Chilled Down.

The Bottle:

Where you can find a bottle for yourself on Etsy (where I got it) or it's also available on Ninja Polish

All pictures are with three coats (two thin coats and one thick coat...you could probably pull off two thick coats thought) of Chilled Down and a layer of topcoat. It's a thin formula that applies easily and dries quickly. Oh, and did I forget to mention that it is gorgeous. I LOVE this polish. My inner Valkyrie is hopping up and down clapping. I will definitely be buying from Dandy Nails again, the woman is a nail polish genius. This polish is as unique as it is gorgeous. I am going to be one sad panda when I have to take it off...yes, it's that awesome. Now I am going to get back to admiring my nails. Until next time stay classy and stay polished.
