Orly Macabre Masquerade

Today, I have Macabre Masquerade from Orly's Secret Society collection to show you guys. Macabre Masquerade has silver, pink, red, teal, and navy blue micro glitter in a metallic blue base. I hope you are ready for your Valkyrie genes to be triggered. This polish is a glitter bomb. In fact it's so glittery that It was literally impossible to take pictures of this polish with a flash. So without further ado, here's Macabre Masquerade:

In these pictures I used three coats of  Macabre Masquerade and a heavy coat of top coat.  Macabre Masquerade applies easily and dries quickly. My only real complaint about this polish is that removal is a beast. Glitter every where! I had to wash my hands twice after the polish was removed to get rid of all the clinging tiny glitters. But I still love it. Blue glitter is one of my favorite kinds of glitter. Anyway that's all I have for you guys today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Finger Paints Pretty Tough Pink

Today, I am going to show you Pretty Tough Pink from Finger Paints. Pretty Tough Pink is a textured metallic pink polish. Yeah...so I'm kind of over the whole texture polish thing, and I was not aware that this polish was a texture when I bough it. I bought it because I liked the color. So I blindly (read this as: without having seen it swatched) bought it because it was a pretty color. Then when I got it home and tried it on my nails poof: texture. But not to worry this one is actually more subtle in texture than the China Glaze, and the OPI textures. This one is like intro to nail texture.Texture for beginners...texture for those of us who are like "Meh, to texture polish." But enough trying to explain it. It's easier just to show you any way. So here (without any further ado) is Pretty Tough Pink:

Swatches:

In these pictures I used one coat of Pretty Tough Pink and no top coat. That's right one coat...And it's opaque. Well played Finger Paints well played. The polish applied easily and the texture while unexpected wasn't that big of a deal on account of it's subtle nature. The one coat was pretty awesome as well. This polish also wore really well and came off super easy (when compared to other texture polish). I was able to use regular acetone polish remover not pure acetone like I have to use to remove other textures. So final verdict: I love it, even though I'm over texture polish. This one is pretty ans subtle enough I didn't end up minding the texture. Well that's all I have for you guys today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby

Today, I have Love.Angel. Music.Baby from OPI's Gwen Stefani collection to show you. Love.Angel. Music.Baby is a satin finish gold nail polish, and honestly I wasn't going to get this polish at first because none of the swatches I had seen online did it justice. But then I went into Sally Beauty Supply and saw the in store swatch (and the price $4.50 on clearance), I was like "You are coming home with me!" So I bought it and I'm so glad I did. She's such a pretty polish. But enough of my blathering, see for yourselves, here's Love.Angel. Music.Baby:

For these pictures I used two coats of Love.Angel. Music.Baby and no topcoat (because you loose the finish if you top coat it). This polish applied easily and dried quickly. Over all a great addition and it's kind of making fall in love with satin polish. I need more satin polish in my life. Normally gold is so not my color (when you are this white it's not a good idea), but this is such a soft gold that I could actually pull it off. Anyway that's all I have for you guys today. Until next time, stay classy and stay polished.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past Manicure

Okay, so I know I've been MIA for a bit but I've been kinda busy with getting ready for grad school and being the host of viral plague (Okay not really. But what else do you call a sinus/ear infection. That even though I am medicated is still kicking my butt pretty hard?). In fact I am on day two of antibiotics and I still keep getting hit with the dizzy spells from hell. I have a couple minutes of not gross mixed with a lot of moments of gross.
This manicure I'm about to show you took 3 days to complete. And yeah I probably should have been resting the whole time. But I painted a nail took a break, painted a nail took a break. Hence the whole 3 days to finish. It's also kind of an experiment. It's a mixture of gel and regular nail polish: The woman at Sally Beauty Supply said would never work. Well as you are about to see it does work, as for longevity...only time will tell but for now it looks lovely. I will update later on how long it lasts with this combo.
So now that's out of the way lets talk about X-Men. I don't know if you guys know this but I am a huge X-men fan. Like super huge, mega, nerd about it (for which I will never be sorry). I've been waiting for this movie since the last one. And yes I'm already excited for the one after this one. Now I would have seen it Friday...but instead I got to go to the doctor (Believe me I was beyond pissed about it). But I am going tonight come hell or high water, because I won't be contagious, and every day I wait to see it, is killing me inside. Seeing it will make me happy, being happy helps you get better faster ergo I must see it to get better...well at least that's what I'm telling myself. So here we go: My X-Men: Days Of Future Past manicure.

Pictures:

Left Hand:

Thumb through pinkie: Professor X, Rogue, Wolverine, Shadowcat, & Storm

Right Hand:

Pinkie though Thumb: Jean Grey, Mystique, Magneto, Beast, and Professor X.
I tried to strategically place the glitter like her scales) on the Mystique nail but yeah...that didn't work out well so I just went random on it. And two professor X nails because he ties everyone together.

Closeups:

The links below are as follows: 1st links (X-Men Names) are comic character bios ( but be careful they may contain spoilers), 2nd link (the characters full names) are pictures of characters in the X-Men films thus far that I used as inspiration for this manicure. The Trailer:

In case you've been under a rock and haven't seen it yet.

So there you have it my gel+regular polish hybrid manicure dedicated to the X-Men. In stead of using all their comic outfits I decided to use the details from their clothing in the films. Not that I don't love the comics. Because I do (grew up with them). I love them a ton. I have just seen a lot on manicures that use their comic outfits so I wanted to do something different. And the accents on their movie outfits were a lot easier to pull off while sick.
My favorite nail has to be the Magneto nail. For two reasons: one I painted it free hand on the nail with my left hand (I'm right handed!!!!!) and two I have a soft spot for Magneto (actually I have a soft spot for all characters or people who grow up without their moms, because I was one). Regardless I'm pretty proud of how awesome this whole mani turned out. Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you guys what methods I used: taping, free hand (Magneto's awesome helmet), and self made decals (Professor X symbol).
Also I'm sure you're all wondering who my favorite X-Man is. Well that depends. If we are talking about films then it's easily Wolverine (and not just because Hugh Jackman is man pretty, because if it was about who's prettier you know young Magneto, played by Micheal Fassbender, would be my favorite...cuz damn that man is gorgeous, even if he always looks slightly as though he's perpetually and intentionally up to no good). I like Wolverine because he is so deeply flawed but he tries to do better and that's all the more endearing because the cards are always stacked against him.
However, my favorite X-Man in the comic isn't a man at all, it's Rogue (Storm and Wolverine are close runners up though, and Dark Phoenix is up there to) because she's totally bad ass, she's super strong, flies, has her cool borrowing powers ability, and never wines about her abilities she's like "Yeah, I'm bad ass! What are you going to do about it?" That said, they kind of crapped out on her in the films IMO (but Anna Paquin did a good job with what she had). That said I also rather like any version on Mystique as well because she's a total bad ass. Anyway that's all I have for you guys today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Dollish Polish They Are Coming To Get You Barbara

Today, I have They Are Coming To Get You Barbara from Dollish Polish's Halloween Frights collection to show you guys. They Are Coming To Get You Barbara is a Red (bar and square), black (matte moon & hex), White (matte hex and skull and cross bones), and neon green (matte hex and squares) in a milky off white/grayish crelly base. Wow that was a mouthful! But seriously guys this polish is awesome! It's based on the movie Night of The Living Dead. I like the 1968 original but I absolutely adore the 1990 remake (the Tony Todd one...because Tony Todd is the shit!!! His voice is wonderfully creepy and he's such a good actor). I'm not sure which version this is based on (There are like 5 or 6 remakes/versions of this film...but the only ones any good are the Tony Todd 1990 and the original 1968 ones, IMO.), so...I guess just pick your fave and go with it. Also if you only know one thing about Night Of the Living Dead, know this: George A. Romero co-wrote and directed the original, which makes him the Zombie Godfather! All zombies as we know them can be traced directly to George A. Romero and the original 1968 film. If you like zombies, then you should be thankful for Mr. Romero, he's a total rock star, and responsible for all the flesh eating monsters we know and love. So let's pay homage to the Zombie Godfather! Here's They Are Coming To Get You Barbara:

In these pictures I used two coats of They Are Coming To Get You Barbara, over two coats of China Glaze Recycle, topped with a heavy layer of top coat. The skull and cross bones were kind of a pain to place, I had to dig them out and put them where I wanted them. Also as you know I hate bar glitter, but in this polish they are not a big deal. I would prefer it if they weren't in there, but whatever, it's still a pretty polish. And I'm definitely glad I bought this one. I hope you guys enjoy this swatch and if you haven't seen the movie (Either version) they are so beyond worth a watch. So go watch them. That's all I have for you today. Until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.

Dollish Polish 1,2, Freddy's Coming For You

Today, I have 1, 2, Freddy's Coming For You from Dollish Polish's Halloween Frights collection to show you. 1, 2, Freddy's Coming For You is a Green, black and burgundy glitter topper in a clear base. As soon as I saw the first swatches of this polish I knew I had to have it. This polish is based on Freddy Kruger's striped sweater from A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. As some of you may know I am a HUGE Freddy Kruger fan, and have been since I was a kid (I don't include the abortion of a remake in the Nightmare franchise!!!! Robert Englund only thank you! Freddy = Robert England, Freddy ≠ Jackie Earle Haley end of story. Don't go there with me or you tempt full on nerd rage.). I guess I'm preternaturally attracted to sarcastic "bag guys," (or so it would seem) and that all started with Freddy. But I digress, I knew this polish had to be mine as soon as I saw it. So without further ado, here is 1, 2, Freddy's Coming For You:

Pictures:

For these pictures I used two coats of 1, 2, Freddy's Coming For You over two coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff topped with a heavy layer of top coat. Polish applied easily and dried quickly. I only needed to dab on the first layer and the second went on like normal polish. Over all I adore it. Pretty polish, based on one of my favorite baddies and I'm in nail and movie nerd heaven. Cudos for Dollish Polish for making this lovely lady for us. What do guys think? Are you loving it? Are you guys as big a Freddy fan as I am? Or am I just a weirdo? Talk to me below. Anyway, that's all I have for you today. Until next time, stay classy and stay polished.

China Glaze Fang-Tastic

Today I have Fang-Tastic from China Glaze's Monsters Ball collection to show you guys. Fang-Tastic is a pink, purple, blue, and teal glitter topper in a clear base. now I know this one was supposed to be a Halloween color...but the colors just seem more spring to me so I waited to swatch it until spring. Can we just take a moment and talk about the name please: Fang-Tastic. I love it! It's the perfect descriptor for what all vamps should be (But seriously, fang-less vampires need to GTFO of my favorite genre, they are faeries with oral fetishes not vampires!). The name also sounds straight out of a Kresley Cole book, or Buffy. The name of this polish is both sarcastic, and paranormal (both things I adore beyond measure) so of course I had to have it. Also it doesn't hurt that it's glitter. I love glitter, and I know all my Valkyrie's love glitter too. So without further ado here's Fang-Tastic:

Pictures:

In these pictures I used two coats of Fang-Tastic over two coats of OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons followed by a heavy layer of top coat. This polish did have to be dabbed on and had an average dry time. But the glitter/sparkle/Valkyrie payoff was HUGE. I just love it. This one's a keeper. Anyway that's all I have for you guys today. Until next time, stay classy and stay polished.

OPI Muppets World Tour

Today, I have Muppets World Tour from OPI's Muppets Most Wanted collection to show you guys. Muppets World Tour is a silver (holographic), white (matte), pink (metallic), blue (metallic), and rose gold (metallic), glitter topper in a clear base. This polish is going to blow your Valkyrie minds. It's that sparkly. So you've been warned. Now buckle up, because here she is in all her glittery, sparkly glory:

Pictures:

Indoor no flash.

In these pictures I use one coat of Muppets World Tour over two coats of OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons, followed with a very heavy layer of topcoat. This polish applied easily and dried quickly. That said it's a very textured, rough glitter polish, so you are going to want a very thick layer of top coat (Maybe two coats) on top of this. I know a lot of people have been complaining about the texture on this glitter but it's not a texture polish, it's certainly not marked as one at any rate. It just seems like a really chunky glitter that eats top coat for dinner (Think China Glaze Glistening Snow kind of eat's topcoat alive glitter). I used Seche Vite (but any thick top coat should do) and went heavy on it. So the polish was great for me with no texture showing. It had a long wear time and came off easily. So, I'm not sure what others are having such a problem with. It's a chunky glitter, all chunky glitter will eat up topcoat so I always go heavy (on top coat) and didn't have a problem. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this swatch. That's all I have for you guys today. So until next time, stay classy, and stay polished.
XOXO
